Has Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman's new-found stardom put Sherlock's future on shaky ground?

Not six weeks ago did Benedict Cumberbatch drop many a Sherlock fan's anxiety levels by declaring that availability aside, there was no reason that his and Martin Freeman's roles in Sherlock "can't continue until we get too old". Asked if the pair could become too well-known to return to the BBC detective series, Cumberbatch replied that he didn't think it was a possibility due to his love for the show.

Never one to relieve his people of anxiety though, co-creator Steven Moffat has introduced an element of doubt into proceedings with his latest words on the future of Sherlock. Speaking to the Radio Times, Moffat said of his leads' new stardom, “It’s a problem by accident and design. We do have two of the biggest film stars in the world playing the leads in our show. But they seem to like doing it and we hope we can hang on to them for a bit.”

Will 'Twelve Years A Slave' Premiere At The Cannes Film Festival? FESTIVALS BY SERGIO (INDIE WIRE)

Of course, we're still quite a few months away before this year's Cannes Film Festival announces its selection of films that will screen, both in and out of competition. But both Tambay and I agree that this is a no-brainer.

Steve McQueen's Twelve Years a Slave for certain, will make its premiere at this year's festival. So how can we be so confident? Well there are several factors in its favor.

First of all, it's an independently made, much talked about and anticipated, high profile film with major stars, about a controversial subject matter made by an equally controversial major director. That's the kind of movie they live for at Cannes.

Second, as I just alluded to, it's got star power: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfre Woodward, Ruth Negga, Quvenzhane Wallis and Dwight Henry among others. And there's nothing they love more at Cannes than to have movie stars walking up those famous red carpeted steps to the Grande Auditorium on The Palais, for the movie's premiere, with the world's paparazzi out in full force.

And it will be the second trip in a row for both Wallis and Henry, who were at Cannes last year for Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Michael Fassbender Is Single Following Split From Nicole Behaire (E.)

Good news ladies, looks like Michael Fassbender is back on the market as his 'Shame' co-star girlfriend Nicole Behaire has confirmed the couple have split.

The stars reportedly got together while promoting the critically acclaimed film in early 2012, according to Fassbender who tried to woo Behaire's character in the sexual thriller.

Confirming the split, the pretty 27 year-old wrote on Twitter: "Yes, it's true. Fassbender and I are no longer dating."

The Prometheus star, 35, will wear the disguise in Frank, inspired by the life of Frank Sidebottom – the alter-ego of Cheshire performer Chris Sievey who died from cancer in June 2010, aged 54.

Fassbender won an army of female fans with his naked scenes in sex addict flick Shame.

MICHAEL FASSBENDER REPORTEDLY SINGLE AGAIN (FAN SHARE)

For the past couple of months, it had been rumored that Michael Fassbender was quietly dating his ‘Shame’ co-star Nicole Beharie.  However, a new report surfaced from the Herald.ie that Fassbender was ‘single’ and mingling with a large group of friends in the VIP area at the Lillie’s Bordello in Ireland.


This could mean one of two things: either Fassbender is actually single again, or he is just ‘acting’ single.  Based on all the present facts, it really does seem like he’s single, especially as he hasn’t been seen with Beharie in a while now.  There have been no reports of the duo cosying up anywhere, and Fassbender is always a hot paparazzi target when he’s with a woman.
