Tom Hiddleston on being voted Total Film’s Sexiest Actor Right Now: interview “It’s insane…” Jan 18th 2013 By Total Film (TOTAL FILM)

You voted, and the results of Total Film’s Sexiest Stars In Movies Right Now poll have been revealed.

You can see the list of your favourites laid out in full in issue 203 of Total Film magazine, which is available now on newsstands, iPads and Android devices.

Tom Hiddleston topped the men’s category, pipping the likes of Robert Pattinson and Ryan Gosling to the title.

Winning the vote by a sizeable margin, Hiddleston has amassed an army of fans since his meteoric breakout playing the deliciously despicable Loki in Thor and The Avengers. That he’s backed up those blockbuster turns with considered roles for some of today’s most respected directors (Midnight In Paris, The Deep Blue Sea, War Horse, Only Lovers Left Alive) hasn’t harmed his credentials one bit.

We spoke to Hiddleston to find out what he made of being voted your Sexiest Actor Right Now…

Jeremy Irons prefers Shakespeare to 'Abbey' Gary Levin, USA TODAY

The actor is among the stars who will delve into the Bard's most compelling characters for PBS.

PBS is telling tales behind some of Shakespeare's greatest plays.

Shakespeare Uncovered, produced by New York's WNET, is a three-week, six-episode project featuring stars who've played celebrated characters exploring what's behind them. It kicks off Jan. 25 with Ethan Hawke exploring Macbeth and Joely Richardson delving into the playwright's comedies. Jeremy Irons tackles Henry IVand V on Feb. 1, and other episodes feature Hamlet, The Tempest and Richard II. Each episode mixes performances, history, analysis, and the actors speaking passionately about their roles as they trek to sites imagined or visited by the author.

"One of the reasons why Shakespeare shines as the greatest dramatist of all time is he was writing about the human condition," Irons says. "Jealousy, envy or unrequited love, or the relationship between family members. It's something that hasn't changed. So when we see those plays now they still speak to us, they have a resonance, (while) hundreds of plays written since then don't."

Tom Hiddleston: I want to direct (BELFAST TELEGRAPH)

Tom Hiddleston has revealed he would like to step behind the camera as a director.

The British actor, best known for playing villain Loki in Thor and Avengers Assemble, is helping to judge the Jameson Empire Done In 60 Seconds short films competition, and admitted he would like to make his own movies in the future.

"I've never actually made one myself, apart from messing about on my phone. I've written stuff that has gone on to be produced, which is definitely for the best for all of us," he said.
